PILATES METHOD TEACHER TRAINING

BODY ARTS & SCIENCE INTERNATIONAL


The Comprehensive Global Program includes the Mat Program as well as a thorough and complete education in Pilates covering the full range of Pilates equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ped-a-pull, Ladder Barrel, Step Barrel and various other Auxiliary apparatus ). This program consists of 12 modules ( comprised of lecture, discussion, exercise analysis and practice), revision seminars and Pro-classes .

More than simply a program of study, the Comprehensive Global Program is an enduring foundation for a career in Pilates. This is a college-level teacher training program that give students knowledge of Pilates theory, exercises, and teaching skills on all Pilates equipment. 

From the UK to Asia, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Australia and beyond Pilates students are becoming BASI qualified Pilates professionals.

When you complete BASI’s Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training, you will have graduated from the most rigorous, exciting, and positively life-changing Pilates teacher training in the business. You may test for a BASI Pilates Comprehensive teaching certification and you will be eligible to take the PMA Pilates Certification exam*.

Modules 1-12 Thursdays thru Saturdays from 2-9pm, Sundays 1-8pm

These 12 modules are part of a 600 hour program consisting of:

- 160 hrs of Modules & Revisions of BASI repertory ( see dates above & below )

4 Revision Seminars Mondays 2-6pm following each Module week-end

30 Pro Classes to choose from at your convenience throughout your training period

- 100 hrs of observation 

- 100 hrs self-practice

- 40 supervised practice

- 200 hrs apprenticeship

Prerequisites : Minimum 50 hours of Pilates Mat work and 20 hours of Pilates Apparatus work !

Next Final Exams for BASI COMPREHENSIVE STUDENTS :

Please be advised that the course will be taught in French,

and the manuals ( e-books) are in English !

To become a BASI Pilates certified teacher

To become a BASI Pilates certified teacher , and recognised internationally by the PILATES METHOD ALLIANCE ( PMA ) and In France by the FPMP (Féderation des Professionnels de la Méthode Pilates )

  • it is necessary to have completed 600 hours of seminars, practice and apprentice hours as detailed above

  • have passed all exams with minimum 75% success rate and have submitted and validated a case study .

  •  In order to be able to teach the Pilates method in France, it is necessary to hold a title recognised by the Ministry of Sports (CQP, BE) and be in possession of the Carte Professionnelle des métiers du sport.

    BASI Pilates is recognised by the french Pilates Federation, the FPMP ( fédération des professionnels de la méthode Pilates) and thanks to its affiliation our students and apprentices can adhere to the FPMP and the FSPT (fédération sport pour tous ) which allows them to obtain the CQP (certificat de qualification professionnel) and finally the Carte Professionnelle .

The Pretraining is the first stage of the certification program in which you will learn the Gyrotonic Level 1 repertory

This session is open for those who would like to deepen their knowledge and practice of this method and those who would like to continue with the Foundation course to become a certified Gyrotonic teacher .

Joanne Avison

is an international teacher of applied structural anatomy for movement and manual practitioners in a variety of fields. She is a professional Structural Integration practitioner and certified teacher ( KMI, Anatomy Trains 1998-2005 Tom Myers’ school ) and Director of the Art of Contemporary Yoga Teacher Training, London, UK.

She has taught Anatomy , Biotensegrity and Fascia throughout the world and has been part of John Sharkey’s team teaching Human Dissection courses at Life & Science University of Dundee , Scotland .

As an advanced Yoga Practitioner and Certified Yoga Therapist, the art, craft and science of yoga and body architecture are something Joanne is very passionate about learning and teaching!

As a founding Member of the BioTensegrity Interest Group (B.I.G.), Joanne is fascinated by the application of BioTensegrity principles to the understanding of the human blueprint and natural biomotional organisation. Her writing and workshops are devoted to making this emerging context for human movement applicable and clearly understood.

John Sharkey

John Sharkey MSc , is a clinical anatomist, exercise physiologist and neuromuscular therapist with 30yrs experience.

World renowned presenter and authority in the areas of anatomy, bodywork and movement therapies.

While a growing number of professionals are beginning to understand what Tensegrity is a wider population of bodywork and movement therapists need to know what it is not.
